Ian is a Consumer Representative for SMARTERscreen, and formerly for SMARTscreen. Ian has a family history of bowel cancer and is a survivor himself. Ian was sent a screening kit by the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program in 2015 and though he was due for a colonoscopy in the next 7 months decided to go ahead and do the test anyway. The test came back positive.
Ian was asked by his bowel surgeon if he would be willing to join the Primary Care Collaborative Cancer Clinical Trials Group (PC4) to help improve the participation rate of bowel cancer screening. Ian sees it as his way of giving back.
